Selectmen Minutes April 12, 2004
The weekly meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on Monday evening, April 12, 2004 at 7:30 p.m.

Reorganization of the Board
m/Hardy, s/Walsh, vote to nominate Mr. Greene as Chairman of the Board.
m/Greene, s/Hardy, vote to nominate Mr. Walsh as Clerk.
Appointment
Ms. Roan and Ms. Ahern, of the Historical Commission, were present to update the Board, as well as the residents, on the property located at 43 Central Street.
Ms. Roan stated that the owners of the property were working with the Historical Commission in the rebuilding of the house that was destroyed. Ms. Roan stated that the first set of plans to rebuild the property were rejected by the Commission, however a second set of plans were done up and are found to be acceptable at first glance.
Ms. Roan encouraged the Board and the residents to stop in at the Planning/Building Department to look at the plans and to report any feedback to the Historical Commission.

Open Forum
School Committee member Theresa McNulty was present to explain to the Board and the residents the cuts that will have to be made to the schools in the event that more money is not made available. Ms. McNulty made an impassioned plea on behalf of the schools to the Board to consider keeping the budget cuts at a minimum.
Philip Zentz, a resident of Belmont Street, was present to express his concerns regarding the possibility of the reopening of the BFI Landfill.
A lengthy, and at times heated, discussion was held.

Executive Secretary Report
Mr. Samia shared, with the Board and the residents, an article from the Boston Magazine, dated April 2004, titled The Best Places to Live - The Biggest Bang for the Buck. Mr.

Samia stated that East Bridgewater was specifically mentioned in The Safest Town for the Buck section of the Article, being listed as one of the top 10 towns.
Darlene Dupras, a resident of Union Street, came in to express her opinion as to the meeting being out of control.
End of Open Forum
m/Walsh, s/Hardy, a unanimous vote, move to close Open Session and go into Executive Session for the purpose of discussion pending litigation issues and will not be returning to Open Session.
VOTE: Yes – Greene, Walsh, Hardy; a unanimous vote in favor.
Meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
